Child Find

CHILD FIND is the ongoing process of locating students with disabilities for special education services.

The children of Texas come in all sizes, shapes, and colors and with different abilities.  They do not all learn the same way, but they ALL can learn.  Do you know of an infant, child, or young adult who does not learn easily or has an impairment that might affect his/her success in life?

Small Schools Cooperative’s local education agencies coordinate efforts with Education Service Center Region XV and related agencies to assist in the identification of students with disabilities for special education services in accordance with the procedures established by the Commission of Education and the Texas Education Agency.

Special Education includes instruction and related services provided by local school districts for students who have the following conditions according to federal criteria:

Learning Disability
Speech Impairment
Orthopedic Impairment
Other Health Impairment
Mental Retardation
Emotional Disturbance
Autism
Multiple Disabilities
Traumatic Brain Injury
Visual Impairment
Auditory Impairment
Deaf/Blind

Do you know a child age 0-21 who shows signs of developmental delay, ongoing learning problems, behavioral, or medical problems that interfere with learning?
